Volunteer Governance Committees are made up of volunteers with particular expertise and a shared passion for the Girl Scout mission. Volunteer Governance Committees contribute significantly to the success of Girl Scouts of West Central Florida.

The Board Development Committee (BDC) is responsible for partnering with the President and CEO to build a high performing board that is as effective as it can be. In its expanded role, the BDC goes beyond recruiting and slating nominees for council leadership. It works closely with the board to ensure board orientation, ongoing education and assessment.

The Finance Committee has been established by the Board of Directors of Girl Scouts of West Central Florida (the “board”) to assist the board in performing its duties and fulfilling its fiduciary responsibilities with respect to the financial affairs including but not limited to ensuring accumulated assets and current income are managed properly.

The Mission Advancement Committee has been established by the Board of Directors of Girl Scouts of West Central Florida (GSWCF) to assist the organization in advancing its mission through strategic efforts in fundraising, membership growth, sustainability, and community engagement. This committee will take on the responsibilities previously held by the Fund Development Committee and the Membership Sustainability Committee, addressing both financial development and membership strategy needs to ensure the continued success and growth of the Council.

The Properties Committee has been established by the board of directors of Girl Scouts of West Central Florida (the “board”) to assist the board in fulfilling its fiduciary responsibilities. The Properties Committee is charged with overseeing of the Council’s owned real property and leased property assets, use of those assets for programming and members’ benefit, revenue producing considerations and the related capital improvement and operating accounts for these assets.

If you are serving in a troop leader, co-leader, or in a service unit leadership role, you are not eligible to apply for Board of Directors or Governance Committees. We truly appreciate your leadership and commitment to Girl Scouts, and encourage you to explore governance opportunities such as local Area and Service Unit Delegate positions, as well as National Delegate positions.
