Council Patch Programs

In Girl Scouts, girls develop courage, character and self-esteem.

Through council patch programs, Girl Scouts follow requirements that link them with local organizations and resources, helping them develop a lasting sense of responsibility and accountability to their communities.

Below are brief descriptions as well as purchase information for each of the patch programs offered by Girl Scouts of West Central Florida.

Nutrition is in the Bag (Sweetbay Supermarkets Patch Program)

Through the Nutrition is in the Bag Sweetbay Supermarkets patch program, girls will learn to make healthy food choices, better understand nutrition labels, and make the switch from the traditional food pyramid to the newly introduced My Plate icon. Includes a FREE Sweetbay gift card!

Explore sports, nutrition, careers and healthy living! Girl Scouts Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors can work on the program individually or with their troop. Since the program is generously funded by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the patches are FREE once the girls complete the activities!

Tarpon Springs Discovery Patch Program

Girl Scouts will look at the history of Tarpon Springs and the contributions made by the inhabitants. Girls will learn about the preservation and protection of historic sites and memorabilia.The
centerpiece of this patch program is a visit to the historic Tarpon Springs Train Depot. This program was developed in cooperation with the Tarpon Springs Chapter of Rotary International.

African American Heritage

Learn about civil rights, significant African-American women and traditional African art. Celebrate our similarities and our differences.

Florida Manatee

Protecting our environment and preserving it for future generations is a duty we all share. Manatees, endangered marine mammals, will not survive without the concern and awareness of people who share their habitat. The purpose of this program is to inform and encourage public awareness of the dangers facing the Florida manatee.

Girl Scouts Global Action

The Girl Scouts Global Action patch is an exciting and enriching way for Girl Scout Daisies through Ambassadors to participate in realizing the United Nations’ Millennium Development Goals which aim to reduce extreme poverty and impact major world concerns by 2015. The alliance between WAGGGS and the United Nations’ Millennium Development Goals embraces WAGGGS’ mission of empowering girls and young women to develop to their fullest potential as engaged and responsible global citizens. Horse Kicks Council’s Own Try-It

Discover how to care for and groom a horse. Explore proper clothing and tools used when “kicking it” at the barn.

MouthPower Online

Earn the MouthPower Patch as a troop/group, with your friends or on your own. Use the Internet to learn about our mouths, teeth and ways to keep them healthy.

Pet Care

In this program, Girl Scouts will learn about the sheltering of homeless animals. Learn how to promote humane education to the public, how to properly care for animals and how to protect the environment that we all share.

Preserving Tampa’s Past

Girl Scouts will look at the history of Tampa and the contributions made by H.B. Plant and the railroads. Girls will learn about the preservation and protection of historic sites and memorabilia. The centerpiece of this patch program is a visit to the historic landmark, the H. B. Plant Museum.

Wake up and smell the café! The goal of this program is to encourage Girl Scouts from all cultural backgrounds to develop awareness and appreciation of the diversity in the Hispanic culture through activities using the three leadership keys: Discover, Connect and Take Action.

Voter Education

Make freedom count with this GSWCF exclusive patch! Girls will learn about Florida's voting history and the importance of voting while completing Discover, Connect and Take Action activities.
