Tampa, FL — Girl Scouts of West Central Florida (GSWCF) announces a charitable gift of $10,000 from the Suncoast Credit Union Foundation. The funds will be allocated to provide summer camp scholarships for a minimum of 17 girls to attend GSWCF’s traditional summer camp program in 2025. This support ensures girls experience the fun, friendships and life-changing benefits of camp, regard-less of their family's financial situation. Suncoast Credit Union has been a generous and valued sup-porter of Girl Scouts of West Central Florida since 2018.
“We are grateful to the Suncoast Credit Union Foundation for their generous support. This donation is more than just funding; it represents a commitment to empowering young girls and enriching their lives,” said GSWCF CEO Mary Pat King. “Thanks to this support, we can continue to provide valuable experiences that help our mission of building girls of courage, confidence and character.”
Suncoast Credit Union, Florida’s largest credit union, founded the Suncoast Credit Union Foundation to promote the education, health and emotional well-being of children in the community. Each time a Suncoast member uses their debit or credit card, the credit union donates two cents to the Foundation to fund local initiatives. Since its inception in 1990, the Foundation has raised and donated over $45 million.
"At Suncoast Credit Union Foundation, we believe in empowering the next generation of leaders, and supporting the Girl Scouts of West Central Florida aligns perfectly with that mission,” said Melva McKay-Bass, Chief Community Development Officer, Suncoast Credit Union. “By providing these scholarships, we ensure that every girl, regardless of financial circumstances, has the opportunity to experience the joys and transformative experiences of summer camp. We're proud to continue our partnership with GSWCF and look forward to seeing the incredible growth and lifelong memories these girls will gain."
