Volunteer Impact Stories - Week 4, Part 1

Every day, Girl Scout volunteers make a positive impact in the lives of Girl Scouts, families and fellow volunteers. This Volunteer Appreciation Month, we’re sharing stories from our members about the difference our volunteers make with Volunteer Impact Stories

Meet Robin Chaloune, Jasmine Jackson, Tom Mikula, and Adisha Lovette. They plan a variety of activities, take initiative to help when needed, and support High Award projects!

. . .

Thank you Mrs. Robin for giving all the girls an opportunity to learn, grow, and become better leaders. Amina has learned many skills during badge presentations, overnight trips, and community events. I appreciate that you plan ahead, keep us informed, and involved.  It all takes a lot of time, and I want you know that Amina and I are thankful for your commitment, support, and great leadership of our troop.

- Girl Scout Parent

Jasmine is a new parent volunteer to our GS Troop 74907.  She is at all our meetings and will automatically step up to help with any activities that we are doing.  I do not have to ask - she takes the initiative -even bringing a drill to teach the girls and help with a craft.  When we had an opening for CPF/First Aid training she was all ready to go with us for a day to get certified as one of our First Aiders.

We are looking forward to her assistance on our next camp trip with the girls in the water!  Jasmine and Aliyah are a great addition to our troop.

Mr. Tom help out troop complete our Bronze Award. He is the father of one of our girls and willing to help to complete this project. Our Bronze Award project was fixing all the flag poles camp Dorothy Thomas. He thought the girls why the flag poles need to be replaced, how we were gonna fix them and what tools we will need. He showed the girls step by step on what to do and was very informative. The girls all worked together with the tools and skills Mr. Tom showed them, and were able to fix all the flag poles  in one day!

- Allison Walker, GSWCF Troop Leader

I have known Adisha and Paisley Lovette since the inceptions of the Girl Scout Troops at Bethune Academy.  Paisley was the first Girl Scout to join our troop.  Adisha has been volunteering the past three years.  She is a willing driver, chaperone, great cookie assistant and camp chaperone.  She is always willing to drive girls and even adults to trainings at our campsites.  In the three years they have only missed 3 meetings, one for Paisley illness, one for a hunting trip, and one for a family funeral.  I know the Lovette family takes commitments very strongly. Adisha joined other adults taking the CPR/First Aid training just recently.

I know I can always call Adisha for a last minute favor and she is always willing.  The success of our troop is heavily due to Adisha's help.  She is a great friend.
