Every day, Girl Scout volunteers make a positive impact in the lives of Girl Scouts, families and fellow volunteers. This Volunteer Appreciation Month, we’re sharing stories from our members about the difference our volunteers make with Volunteer Impact Stories.
Meet Sheri Bohm, Kelly B., Roxanne Gomez and Suzette Torres.
. . .
Sheri is a great troop leader who’s always prepared to teach the girls life skills and meaningful lessons. She’s patient with all the girls and has a positive upbeat attitude. She makes an impact on the troop because she’s an excellent role model for the girls with her can do attitude. Sheri coordinates activities and experiences locally for the girls that many girls would not have a chance to do otherwise. Sheri helps and supports the girls in learning to struggle so that they can appreciate the process of learning new skills like building a mini robot. She’s shaped the girl scouting experience because she has introduced so many new experiences and life skills that can’t be taught in schools that are incredibly valuable to a young girl. Sheri is dedicated to the troop and is great to work with. We love Ms Sheri and feel lucky to have her as troop leader.

Kelly has been such an amazing leader to our girls, a true blessing. She has taken on our troop all by herself and has kept it going, without her we wouldn’t have one. She is such a fun, caring, wonderful leader and person. We wouldn’t know what we would do without her! She listens to the girls and comes up with such fun and creative ideas for them to incorporate in the badge work and activities they are doing.

Roxanne was thrown into taking part of our SU just because she attends our monthly mtgs. Roxanne is a co to the co leader and attends for her troop. We nominated Roxanne to be our product sales chairman. She didn’t back down and welcomed the challenge. Roxanne is the active caregiver of her granddaughter. Both are Roxanne’ sons are adults and she was a volunteer for the Boys Scouts during their youth. She gives and gives.

My daughter is a part of a brand new daisy troop that started this year. The troop started Dec 2023 with 6 girls and has grown to 11! Suzette Girl Scout Kiarah’s grandmother has stepped up as troop co-leader. She has done a fantastic job helping set up the troop and coordinate events. She is always offering to help with transportation for girls who need it. Suzette deserves to be recognized for her integral part in helping foster the success of troop 50005!
