April is Volunteer Appreciation Month, and what better way to celebrate than by shining a light on our incredible troop leaders! Meet Emily Alfano, Danielle Stimus & Holley Cavaliere. These three fantastic troop leaders were nominated for the "Troop Leader Spotlight" by their peers for their dedication and outstanding leadership.
Each week in April, we’ll spotlight outstanding troop leaders who empower their Girl Scouts with courage, confidence and character.

What are three things you have learned from being a troop leader?
Being a Troop Leader so far has given me many opportunities such as:
1. Reminding our Daises and Brownies that they are entitled to have an opinion and to let it be heard.
2. Help our girls develop a strong sense of self-confidence and self-esteem.
3. To be kind to others.
What are your two favorite things you are looking forward to with your troop?
1. Our first year troop was able to donate over 50 boxes to our local nursing home which has lead to an event we are organizing called "Coffee & Cookies with a Girl Scout".
2. Helping our girls learn more about making a positive impact in our community.

What are three things you have learned from being a troop leader?
I have learned that every girl is unique, and every girl is special and treated with kindness.
Being a leader has taught me to have courage to stand up for girls and give them chances to be different and make a difference in the world.
Being a leader means to give girls a toolbox and help add new tools over time and see what they can build.
What are your two favorite things you are looking forward to with your troop?
We are looking forward to traveling to Georgia to celebrate the meaning of being a Girl Scout.
We are looking forward to making a difference in our community by uniting with Senior Living Facilities to connect our young ladies with Seniors who can enjoy time with our troop.
What is one of your favorite Girl Scout memories?
My favorite memory is receiving the Elizabeth Ann Seton Award by the side of my mom Bonnie who has taught me to help others from a very young age, also a former Girl Scout and my daughter Alyssia who reminds me every day why I am so passionate about helping girls making this world a better place and my oldest daughter Emily-Kate who shares the same kindness and is now my co-leader.
Anything else you want us to know?
We are a family of Girl Scouts and will continue to make this world a better place one girl at a time!
