Join us for Welcome to Cadettes! on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Camp Wai Lani. Thanks to the support of the New York Life Foundation and HCA Florida, this event is for Junior Girl Scouts and non-members (grades 4-5) to experience the exciting adventures of being an older Girl Scout!
Girls will enjoy activities like zip-lining, outdoor cooking, knife safety, high adventure challenges, and workshops on mental health, high awards, Girl Scout travel, and camp life. It's all about making new friends, building confidence, and exploring leadership opportunities.
Adults can attend a networking session and participate in an
"Entering the Middle School Years" mental health workshop,
as well as a panel discussion with experienced troop leaders, staff,
and older Girl Scouts. After lunch, adults will have time to explore
local attractions like the Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks.
Every girl who attends will receive a 2025-2026 Girl Scout
membership, an exclusive Welcome to Cadettes patch, an HCA Mental
Health patch, breakfast, lunch, and unforgettable memories!
Important Information:
Register by March 28, 2025, to
have her 2026 membership (Oct 2025-Sept 2026) automatically
renewed.
If registering after March 28, 2025, the free
membership is still included, and the event fee will be refunded to
cover membership costs after the event has concluded.
Attendance
at the event is required for the free membership renewal.
This
event is open to current 4th-5th grade Junior Girl Scouts and girls in
grades 4-5 interested in joining Girl Scouts.
Gluten-free/vegetarian options available; bring your own breakfast and
lunch if needed due to dietary restrictions.
Spaces are limited-register early for this can't-miss event
that brings big adventures, new friendships, and a free membership for 2026!
Girls attending this event will receive a fun patch which will be
provided at the conclusion of the program.
Participants
should be dressed in comfortable clothes that are weather/environment
appropriate that they can get dirty/wet.
Participants are required to wear closed-toed shoes.
Participants should not bring jewelry or other valuable items.
Participants should bring a full, refillable water bottle and
are welcome to bring a snack.
Event Registration Guidelines:
Events must be paid in full with a credit/debit card to complete the registration process and immediately secure your spot.
Council programs and events can be paid for by redeeming your Girl Scout's Program Credit/Council Dough/Council Credit, by selecting "Program Credit" during check out, but this process does not guarantee your spot in the program due to the two to three days of processing time. To ensure your spot is secured at the time of registration, it is recommended that you pay for the event using a credit/debit card and then email info@gswcf.org or call 813-281-4475 to apply credits to the order and reimburse your card. You will be asked to provide the event name, attendees' name(s), and the amount of credits you'd like to apply.
Adult Chaperones:
All girls are welcome to attend this event but must be accompanied by a registered adult member. If the adult is not her parent/guardian, the chaperone must also have a valid background check.
Adults must register for this event if they will be attending.
Leaders who register for this event as a troop activity must adhere to only bringing enough adults to provide girl/adult safety ratio as described in Volunteer Essentials.
Confirmation Email:
Will be sent out two weeks before the event's start date. Please refer to the confirmation email for any required forms/waivers. Please print, complete, sign, and bring with you to check-in at the event. If you are not attending with your Girl Scout, please be sure to send the completed documents with her or the chaperone in charge.
Refund/Cancellation Guidelines:
* All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing via email and sent directly to info@gswcf.org.
* There will be no refunds or transfers for no-shows.
* Refund requests received on or after 5 /4/2025 will not be eligible for a refund, except in extenuating circumstances on a case-by-case request.
