This event has no-show clause applied to our GSWCF Cancelllation Policy. If a volunteer fails to notify us and does not show up for the scheduled event, they will be charged the full cost of the training provided ($45). See Cancellation Policy below for more details.

 

This training qualifies troop leaders to take Girl Scouts canoeing, kayaking or stand-up paddle boarding at Camp Indian Echo or on small lakes in Florida. Participants should have prior experience with canoeing, kayaking and paddleboards.

 

Learning Objectives:

- Learn basic safety guidelines for canoeing, kayaking, and stand-up paddle boarding

- Learn to recognize, prevent, and respond to aquatic emergencies

- Learn how to prevent small craft accidents, injuries, and fatalities

- Understand the responsibilities of small craft trip planning, supervision, and emergency preparation

- Learn how to rescue yourself and others when supervising canoeing, kayaking, or stand-up paddle-boarding activities

- Understand and perform self-rescue skills for aquatic emergencies

 

Participants should be dressed in comfortable clothes.

 

Participants are required to wear closed-toed shoes and clothing that can get dirty or wet.

 

Participants are required/should bring a bathing suit, towel, sunscreen, and water shoes (optional).

 

Participants are required/should bring pen, paper, and their handbook OR Girl's Guide to Girl Scouting (if they have one).

 

Participants should bring a full, refillable water bottle.

 

Participants are welcome to bring a snack.Participants need to bring a bag lunch.

 

Confirmation Email: 

Will be sent out two weeks before the event start date. Please print, complete, sign, and bring with you to check-in at the event. 
 

Refund/Cancellation Guidelines:  

*       All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing via email and sent directly to info@gswcf.org 

*       There will be no refunds or transfers for no-shows. Please refer to the training description for information regarding potential no-show fees. 

*       Refund requests received on or after 7/20/2025 will not be eligible for a refund, except in extenuating circumstances on a case-by-case request.
