Event Fee: $10.00 per adult

Prerequisite: Small Craft Safety Canoe/Kayak/SUP Training.

 

Learn how to safely use the canoes, kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards at Camp Wai Lani. Please note this training does not qualify volunteers to take their girls canoeing, kayaking, or stand-up paddle boarding on open or coastal waters off GSWCF property.

 

Learning Objectives

- Understand the requirements to take girls canoe, kayak, and paddle boarding at Camp Wai Lani

- Learn how to look up tides and determine appropriate conditions for canoe, kayak, or stand-up paddle boarding at Camp Wai Lani

- Understand winds, currents, water terrain, and safety in situations at Camp Wai Lani

- Understand desired outcomes of girls using watercraft at Camp Wai Lani

- Understand float plan requirements and communication required by the ranger

- Learn how to rescue others when supervising canoeing, kayaking, or stand-up paddle-boarding activities at Camp Wai Lani

- Understand and preform basic water strokes

- Learn and demonstrate how to clean and store gear at Camp Wai Lani

 

Participants should be dressed in comfortable clothes.

 

Participants are required to wear closed-toed shoes and clothing that can get dirty or wet.

 

Participants are required/should bring a bathing suit, towel, sunscreen, and water shoes (optional).

 

Participants are required/should bring pen, paper, and their handbook OR Girl's Guide to Girl Scouting (if they have one).

 

Participants should bring a full, refillable water bottle.

 

Participants are welcome to bring a snack.

Will be sent out two weeks before the event start date. Please print, complete, sign, and bring with you to check-in at the event. 
 

Refund/Cancellation Guidelines:  

*       All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing via email and sent directly to info@gswcf.org 

*       There will be no refunds or transfers for no-shows. Please refer to the training description for information regarding potential no-show fees. 

*       Refund requests received on or after 5/4/2025 will not be eligible for a refund, except in extenuating circumstances on a case-by-case request.
