The challenge course at Camp Dorothy Thomas is an adventure recreation program that offers girls and adults the opportunity to participate in a series of activities involving mental, physical and emotional risk-taking. The course features wall climbing, rappelling, a zip line and a giant swing. Half-day, one-day and two-day programs range from $8 to $15 per participant; weekend programs include Saturday and Sunday.
You’ll be able to relax and unwind while painting or sculpting a wonderful piece of pottery to give as a gift, enjoy for yourself, or create a lasting memory! Some options include painting a ceramic tile, cup, plate, or one of many other art projects. Program is available at Camp Dorothy Thomas (Riverview) and Camp Wai Lani (Palm Harbor).
Be on target and learn basic archery skills from signals to shooting a bulls-eye – you’ll definitely make your mark. Program is available at Camp Dorothy Thomas (Riverview), Camp Indian Echo (Hudson), Camp Scoutcrest (Odessa), Camp Wai Lani (Palm Harbor) and Camp Wildwood (Wildwood).
Program options and costs vary. Activity dates do not have to be coordinated with camping dates, however, please allow three to four weeks of advance planning. For more information on any of these activities, contact Shari Money, director of outdoor programs: (813) 262-1833.
Girls and volunteers are always needed to help with long and short-term projects to help maintain and improve or camps. We welcome weekend projects while troops are camping as well as community groups and organizations. We have a variety of projects that girls and adults can work on that range from a few hours to several days.
