This is a certification course through the National Council For Mental Wellbeing. Participants are introduced to the unique risk factors and warning signs of mental health issues in youth. This training emphasizes early intervention and teaches individuals how to help a youth who is experiencing a mental health challenge. It is designed for adults who regularly interact with young people, ages 12-18.

Prerequisite: 2 hours of self-led pre-work. Access to the to the pre-work component will be provided two weeks from the training date.


What Mental Health First Aid Covers


• Common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges in this age group, include anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD).

• Common signs and symptoms of substance use challenges.

• How to interact with a child or adolescent in crisis.

• How to connect the youth with help.

• Expanded content on trauma, substance use, self-care and the impact of social media and bullying


Participants should be dressed in comfortable clothes

Food & Drink:

Participants should bring a full, refillable water bottle; you are welcome to bring a snack

Lunch will be provided.

Confirmation Email:

Will be sent out 2 weeks before the Event start date, identifying required forms and materials to bring to the training.

  • Refund requests received on or after 12/23/2022 will not be eligible for a refund, except in extenuating circumstances based on a case by case request.
