This leadership course is required to complete the Program Aide Award and the Volunteer in Training Award. Learn valuable skills about being a mentor and sharing your skills, passions and experience with younger Girl Scouts! Program Aides have the unique opportunity to serve as champions of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. All girls who are currently in the 6th grade or above are invited to attend Program Aide/ Volunteer in Training session on their way to completing the steps of the Program Aide Award and Volunteer in Training Award. PA/VIT training involves learning to work with children and adapting activities for special needs and situations. You will put your new skills to the test with activities that will prepare you for real life situations working with younger girls at troop, day camp, council and service unit events.

 

Program Aide Award Requirements:

Girl must have completed 6th grade

Earn one Leader in Action (LiA) award.

Complete the PA training.

Work directly with younger girls over 6 activity sessions. This might be assisting girls on Journey activities, badge activities, or other sessions. You might work with a group, at their meetings, at a day camp or during a special council event. 

 

Leadership Program Requirement for Volunteer in Training 

Volunteer in Training Award Requirements:

Must have completed 9th grade

Your project must span a 3 to 6 month period working with Girl Scout Daisy, Brownie, Junior or Cadette group outside of the camp experience. 

Find a mentor who is an adult volunteer for a group of girls at the level you are interested in working with. 

 

Complete the Leadership in Training course. 

Create and implement a thoughtful program based on a Journey or badge that lasts over four or more sessions. Be responsible for designing, planning and evaluating the activities. If youre passionate about a topic, like art or technology, you could design the activities around the area you love or in which you have expertise. 

  

Confirmation Email: 

Will be sent out two weeks before the event start date. Please print, complete, sign, and bring with you to check-in at the event. If you are not attending with your Girl Scout, please be sure to send the completed documents with her or the chaperone in charge. 

 

  Refund/Cancellation Guidelines:  

       All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing via email and sent directly to info@gswcf.org

       There will be no refunds or transfers for no-shows. 

       Refund requests received on or after 11/19/2023 will not be eligible for a refund, except in extenuating circumstances on a case-by-case request.
