Girl Scouts around the world know that there are many rewards for participating in the Girl Scout Cookie Program. They get more than life-changing experiences and adventure; they develop five essential life skills—goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics—all while building their confidence and practicing leadership the Girl Scout way.
An added bonus for Girls in west central Florida that participate in the Girl Scout Cookie Program: Summer Camp! This year, girls who sell 800 packages can earn $100 in Summer Camp Bucks, 1000 packages can earn $150 Summer Camp Bucks, and 1200 packages earns $200 Summer Camp Bucks. Since rewards are cumulative, it’s possible to earn $450 toward a summer camp experience.
Plus, any time your Girl Scout earns Council Dough, she can use it for anything GSWCF offers, including summer camp. Which means even if she only sells 132 packages, she can still use her cookie rewards to pay for camp!
Last year, 36 Girl Scouts earned a full week of activities like swimming, hiking, boating, and archery at one of our summer camps: Camp Wildwood, Camp Wai Lani, or STEM Day Camp at Camp Dorothy Thomas. Girls also earned $26,000 in Council Dough that they used to enhance their Girl Scout experience by participating in activities like summer camp, purchasing books and uniforms, or even renewing their membership.
Using the Girl Scout Cookie Program rewards to pay for camp is a great opportunity for Girls who might not have had the chance to attend camp otherwise. Girl Scout Camp provides girls with an opportunity to try new and exciting experiences, explore the wonders of nature, enjoy traditional camp activities and adventures, and create cherished memories that will last a lifetime.
