This September, Girl Scouts of West Central Florida will host its 7th annual Thin Mint Sprint (5k) and Tagalong Trot (1-mile) races in Safety Harbor. Runners, walker, Girl Scouts and supporters alike will gather for a fun morning filled with endurance, sweat and a post-race Girl Scout Cookie party! Last year, with a record number of 1,500 registered runners, the race sold out for the very first time in its history. Best of all, the race proceeds benefits Girl Scout programming, giving more girls the opportunity to unlock their leadership potential.
The Thin Mint Sprint is a family-friendly race environment with participants of all ages. It makes for the perfect Girl Scout troop outing because it promotes healthy living and the whole family can join in.
BUT did you know you don’t have to be there in person to participate? You can run your own 5k or 1-mile whenever you want and still support Girl Scouts by registering as a Virtual Runner! Our council has a big geographic footprint serving eight counties in west central Florida and we understand that getting down to Pinellas County in the early morning hours might be tough for some folks especially those living in northern counties or trying to coordinate a whole troop of girls.
Virtual runners participate at a discounted rate (if you register before August 31, it's only $10 per person. Virtual runners receive the official race bib and event shirt in the mail*. Plus all registered Girl Scouts in grades K-12 will receive a Thin Mint Sprint fun patch. The best part about the virtual runner option is you can run the race at your own pace on your own schedule.
Each year, several Girl Scout Troops sign up for the virtual race and host their own mini Thin Mint Sprint events for the girls and their families without having to travel. Today we're spotlighting photos submitted by Troop 30124 of their 2018 Thin Mint Sprint virtual race. As you can see they had a great turn out and an awesome time running together.
It’s fun to run with all of my Girl Scout friends. We raced each
other but when we got tired, we also walked together.

This whole day has been so much fun - the race was hard but I
finished. The best part was the family picnic and awards
