GSWCF Council-wide Cause: Good Turn Day 2019

Good Turn Day 2019 Patch

Girl Scouts of West Central Florida has rolled out a new council-wide program called “Good Turn Day 2019” in partnership with The Salvation Army.

All participating Girl Scouts will conduct a four-week donation collection campaign from February 3 to March 2, 2019 to benefit the new Women’s Rehabilitation Program at The Salvation Army Tampa Adult Rehabilitation Center.

Why is this cause significant?
This cause is significant because there is great need for a rehabilitation program designed just for women who want to solve their substance dependencies and become healthy. Through this new program, 30 women are able to live at The Salvation Army Tampa Adult Rehabilitation Center for up to one full year without any out-of-pocket costs while they receive the help and education needed to repair their broken lives. The center’s five Family Stores generate the money necessary to provide room, board and program for the beneficiaries of the rehabilitation program.

How can girls Take Action?
Girl Scouts throughout west central Florida will help support this program by collecting unwanted but useable clothing, shoes, clothing accessories and small household items from the public.

Each troop will weigh its donations and keep a running record of the total poundage collected before delivering donations to its local collection site. Use this donation report form to submit how much your donation weighed.  Donations can be made throughout our council at any of the main Salvation Army satellite offices listed here up until March 2, 2019.

Plus, the troop that has collected the highest total poundage of donations attending the breakfast will receive a gift.
