GS Fest Recap

Girl Scouts of West Central Florida kicked off the new program year at GS Fest 2018. The Go-getters, Innovators, Risk-takers and Leaders were out in full force this year with over 1,600 attendees at the Florida State Fairgrounds! Girl Scout staff, volunteers and program partners hosted interactive exhibitor booths with activities that ranged in the areas of STEM, sports, product sales, healthy living, leadership, entertainment, animals, travel and so much more for a day that was all about girls. A couple of horses from Camp Wildwood even ventured down to Tampa for the occassion. Want to learn more about this event? Keep reading for a full event recap from a Girl Scout just like you.

Lily P., Girl Scout Senior

This year’s GS Fest was in one word successful! The whole event was perfectly planned and all the vendors were engaging and extremely informational. As a Girl Scout, I loved the conglomeration of interesting businesses and people that were always willing to reach out and answer any of the questions you may have had.

Overall, I learned so much about new and upcoming activities that Girl Scouts will now be offering. From snorkeling to STEM programs, there was so much to learn about each event that Girl Scouts will now have the opportunity to partake in.

But information and programs aside, the event was just, well, fun! There was model rocket building, swap making, and treat tasting, which are only a few of the seemingly infinite things that GS Fest offered to attendees.

Plus, there was an amazing area called the "G.I.R.L. Cave" for Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors, that included lots of other amazing opportunities like CPR practice, poetry art, and important information like the dangers of drug use and awareness of teen dating violence. In conclusion, I had an amazing time at the 2018 GS Fest and I know that this event will definitely be remembered for years to come!

Thank you, Lily for that awesome recap! We would also like to give a huge THANK YOU to our Program Partners who participated in GS Fest. Be sure to check out the Program Events and Family Guide to learn about other incredible events Girl Scouts can attend with their troop or individually.
