Camp Wai Lani

Just off St. Joseph Sound, nestled among teeming mangroves and walls of lush pine is where you’ll find 48-acre Camp Wai Lani, meaning “heavenly water” in Hawaiian. Generations of girls have learned about Florida aquatic life and the importance of honoring and protecting our precious natural resources at this marine science haven. Whether you’re exploring the marine lab, conquering the climbing tower, soaring on the zip line, or paddling in the bay, challenging activities and learning opportunities await!*

Overnight campers enjoy air-conditioned raised cabins with interior bathrooms and screened-in patios on the first floor. Campers bunk with others of similar age. Counselors stay in the same cabins to provide supervision.

Summer of STEM Day Camp Sessions

STEM Camp at Camp Wai Lani

Camp Wai Lani is the 2021 home to our Summer of STEM! From the natural world to virtual reality, STEM day camp lets you dig deep, dream big, and reach the stars. Experience being an innovator, scientist, and engineer while enjoying traditional camp activities like swimming, archery, campfires, and more. Day camp includes a morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack.

The Mythical World of STEM
For girls entering grades 1–8

Dabble in alchemy, engineer your own circuit wands, and practice spells. Dive into the world of color through science experiments and challenges. Create your own magic and use your enchanted powers to slay the dragon!

Calling all G.I.R.L.s! We need your help to crack the case! Explore the mysteries of cryptography and chromatography. Learn the science behind footprint and DNA analysis. Collect clues and test evidence to crack this top-secret case.

Survivor

Will you survive on the island? Learn how to power cars and rockets without fuel. Explore hydroponics, discover how plants can grow without soil, and create a yummy treat—all with basic science!

Into the Ocean

Investigate the amazing world of marine life, insects, and other animals. Observe the world from a fish’s eye view and discover how wildlife takes a dive. We’ll follow the “finprints” of fish, examine fossils, and learn about dissection!

Splash in the pool and paddle around St. Joseph’s Sound (our on-property waterfront). Join in with your friends as you participate in an evening water carnival and everything else camp has to offer!

Learn all about marine science as you discover camp’s saltwater shore. Spend the morning focused on different activities picked just for you and create your own afternoon adventures.

CSI: Camp Scene Investigation
For girls entering grades 4–5

Dust off your spy gear and explore the mysterious world of Crime Scene Investigation. Learn how to extract DNA from a plant, discover crime-solving techniques, and try your hand at Wai Lani’s own escape room!

Discover Camp

Junior Lifeguard Camp
For girls entering grades 6–8
$485/girl

If you love to swim and want to take your skills to the next level, learn Basic Water Rescue and earn your Junior Lifeguard certification. While you develop your lifeguarding ability at the pool and waterfront, you’ll also have a blast participating in other fun camp activities of your choosing.

Ultimate Camp Challenge
For girls entering grades 6–8

Take on a different adventure each day at camp including archery, canoeing, and the climbing tower and zip line. Once you’ve honed your skills, join other campers in a friendly race to the finish line.

Camp Designer
For girls entering grades 9–12

Camp can be a great place to hang out with friends and make amazing memories while participating in fun activities. During this session, you’ll create your own schedule doing what you love! Whether you try new things or stick to what you know, the choice is yours!

Lifeguarding 101
For girls entering grades 9–12
$495/girl

Enjoy camp while earning your Red Cross lifeguard certification! Practice deep water and surface rescues and learn how to administer CPR and First Aid. Once you’ve mastered the skills, join your friends in The Great Lifeguard Games.

*Girls MUST be 15 years of age on or before the first day of this camp session. All participants must pass a prerequisite test within two attempts, complete all required skills, and pass a written exam in order to receive certification. Failure to meet any of these steps will result in no certification.

Camp Wildwood

Camp Wildwood is where inquisitive adventurers can explore hundreds of acres (589 in total) of Florida old-growth forest. Hike or ride horseback on piney trails as you wind your way through palmetto-lined, oak-covered canopies, jump into the swimming pool, visit our amazing Griffin Nature Center, and if registered for a specialty horse camp, spend a portion of your day with your favorite horse in our premier equestrian program.

Overnight campers enjoy either air-conditioned raised cabins with interior bathrooms or air-conditioned dormitory style lodging. Campers bunk with others of similar age. Counselors stay in the same cabin as campers to provide supervision.

Please note: CITs attending Camp Wildwood will stay in open air cabins and their counselor will sleep in close but separate quarters.

Intro to Horse Camp
For girls entering grades 1–6

Not quite ready for a whole week in the saddle? This half-week horse camp is perfect for you! Get to know the Wildwood horses while you learn about grooming, saddling, and English and Western riding basics during staff-assisted rides—all while having a blast! (Girls ride on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday only).

Beginner Sessions

Horsewomanship
For girls entering grades 3–6
$580/girl

A spinoff of our Equine Science session where you can learn how your horse communicates. You’ll also learn how to properly care for your equine friend in and out of the barn, on the trail, and more. Great for girls who have never touched or ridden a horse before and are nervous about their first experience.

Giddy Up
For girls entering grades 3–6

Western riding: Learn how to groom, saddle, ride, and steer your horse! Learn about the different types of jobs you can do with your Western horse professionally and in competition. Work toward fun activities like a trail ride or arena games.

Heads Up, Heels Down
For girls entering grades 3–6

English riding: Learn how to groom, saddle, ride, and steer your horse! Learn about the fun competitions and disciplines like jumping over fences and fallen logs. Work toward fun activities like a trail ride or arena games.

Equine Science
For girls entering grades 3–7

Western or English riding: Interested in a career with horses? This week is for you! When you’re not riding, you’ll hear from a variety of guest speakers in the equine science field. A veterinarian and a blacksmith are just two of the people you’ll have the chance to meet and ask all of your questions.

Happy Trails
For girls entering grades 5–9
$580/girl

Western or English riding: Learn about horse and trail safety, make fun trail crafts, and ride your horse on the shady trails of Camp Wildwood. You’ll groom, saddle, and steer your own horse at the walk. Girls will ride trails at a walking pace 2–3 times (weather permitting).

Intermediate Sessions

Girls should be able to steer their own horse safely while walking and have begun to learn to steer their own horse while trotting. They must have attended at least two horse camps or have equivalent experience prior to attending an intermediate level horse camp.

Boots and Buckles
$580/girl
For girls entering grades 5–9

Western riding: Learn to care for and ride your horse like a cowgirl! You’ll learn about roping, reining, and other arena games. Most importantly, you’ll learn how to work with your horse as a team to complete a fun obstacle course challenge!

Girls must have completed a basic Western riding camp (ex: Giddy Up).

Puddle Jumpers

For girls entering grades 5–9

English riding: Learn to care for and ride your horse like a true equestrian! You’ll learn about show jumping, eventing, and more. Most importantly, you’ll learn how to work with your horse as a team to get over cross rails together!

Girls must have completed a basic English riding camp (ex: Heads Up, Heels Down).

Intro to Mounted Archery
For girls entering grades 5–12
$580/girl

Combine your love of horseback riding with your love of archery. Take on the challenge of mounted archery and bring your riding skills to a new level.

Advanced Session

Girls should be able to steer their own horse safely while walking and trotting, and have begun to learn to steer their own horse while cantering. They must have attended at least two horse camps or have equivalent experience prior to attending an advanced level horse camp.

Mounted Archery
For girls entering grades 7–12
$580/girl

Combine your love of horseback riding with your love of archery. Take on the challenge of mounted archery and bring your riding skills to a new level. You’ll build on your skills by starting to shoot while at a walk towards the end of the week.

Girls must have completed at least TWO GSWCF horse camps previously, preferably including Intro to Mounted Archery.
