Are a new volunteer

Girl Scouting 101

This training is required for all volunteers before starting a volunteer position and has been designed to convey the vision, values and goals of Girl Scouts. 

Are a new volunteer

Managing Troops/Groups

This training is required for all newly appointed volunteers in the troop pathway. Adults will learn about the Girl Scout program as well as girl/adult partnership and planning, troop logistics and finances.

Meet or work with Daisies, Brownies and Juniors

Working with Girl Scout Daisies, Brownies and Juniors

This training is required for all volunteers who work with girls in these grade levels.  Learn about the Journeys, The Girls Guide to Girl Scouting and the new awards and badges for girls. Please note: this course only needs to be taken once. Volunteers will need to take another age/grade-level course when working with Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors.

Meet or work with Cadettes, Seniors or Ambassadors on a regular basis

Working with Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors

This training is required for all volunteers who work with girls in these grade levels.  Learn about working with Journeys, The Girls Guide to Girl Scouting and the new awards and badges for girls.

Want to leave the meeting space and/or plan a trip with girls anywhere- Local, out of state, international or a cruise

Traveling Troops

This training is required and teaches adults about progression in Girl Scout travel, girl and adult roles in planning trips, forms and paperwork needed, basics of finances and budgeting, and how to respond to emergencies.

Want to take girls camping at an established site, sleeping in tents, fire building or outdoor cooking

Basic Outdoor Leadership Training (BOLT)

This training is required and gives adults the skills to prepare their girls for outdoor cooking and management of a campsite. 

Prerequisite: Traveling Troops

Meet with Juniors through Ambassadors

Bullying Prevention

This training is required. You will explore: Why do girls bully each other? How adults handle bullying? What is cyber-bullying, and what you can do about it? Learn how to prevent situations  where bullying can occur, and how to deal with bullying once it has already happened.

Meet with Juniors through Ambassadors

Digital Danger (online safety)

This training is required. You will explore issues like sexting, cyber-bullying and social networking sites. You will learn ways to protect your child from online predators and other dangers of the digital age.

Meet with Cadettes through Ambassadors

A Hard Pill to Swallow (controlled substance abuse)

This training is required. You will learn how to recognize controlled substance abuse in teens, how to help and what resources are available.

Meet with Girl Scouts working toward their Bronze, Silver or Gold awards

Take Action Adult Workshop

This training required and is specifically designed for direct-service volunteers - as well as the indirect-service volunteers and staff who support them- so that they fully understand the Take Action component of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
