Open Your Doors to a Foreign Exchange Student

Have you ever thought of hosting a foreign exchange student? Consider the opportunity to learn about new cultures and how people live in different places around the world.

Several student exchange organizations are looking for families of Girl Scouts to host high school exchange students, ages 16 years and older. Student exchange programs are one of the best diplomatic tools for building bridges in an increasingly interdependent and culturally diverse world. By opening your heart and your home to a curious and adventurous student from abroad, you will be bringing a part of the larger world one step closer to your family.

What’s required? Room and board, but just as important are a sincere interest in other cultures, an openness to new experiences, and a welcoming environment.

For more information on exchange programs, please visit Council on International Educational Exchange, AFS International Programs, Education First Foundation for Foreign Study or Youth for Understanding.
