Get the Scoop on Online Social Life

Being online is a part of every teenage girl’s life. While most teenagers know more about the Internet than their parents do, they may not have the knowledge to protect themselves from online dangers.

To that point, Girl Scouts of the USA recently partnered with Microsoft Windows for a new initiative called “LMK” (text-speak for Let Me Know), which provides girls and parents with resources catering to both generations, and whose goal is to bridge the digital gap between parents and teenagers.

On lmk.girlscouts.org, teens can find interactive quizzes, videos and expert articles that help inform girls about online safety in a fun way!

Girls can comment on the site content, sharing their thoughts, experiences and perspectives on topics many teens face every day. Teens can even download an interactive patch they can share on social networking sites like Facebook, just by registering for the site at no cost. Best of all, it’s for all teenagers, not just Girl Scouts!

In addition to an interactive website for girls, the LMK initiative gives parents access to their own site at letmeknow.girlscouts.org.

The website helps parents understand the rapidly changing world of online safety by providing the skills and knowledge needed to help keep families safe online. The site also serves as a tool to help families have open and honest conversations about the dangers that lurk in cyberspace.
