October’s Volunteer Support Conference Calls

If you are a new volunteer and would like to learn more about being that successful leader, make plans to participate in our monthly conference calls.

What’s more, you can participate in the conference calls from the comfort of your own home! Just dial 1-866-391-4886 and enter pin code  956345#. October’s calls will be held Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 11 a.m. and Thursday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m.

This month, we’re talking about Tools for Success.

• Juliette Low Birthday Ideas – Oct. 31 isn't just Halloween, it's the birthday of Juliette Gordon Low, founder of Girl Scouts of the USA. How much do you really know about her?

• Resource Center Support – totes and patch programs available

• Event Participation – girl/adult ratio at events. Fall Guide events are a great way for your girls to learn new skills and have fun together.

• Adult Recognitions – Appreciation is an ongoing, everyday process for anyone, anywhere, anytime. Showing appreciation for one another is a good way to show respect, to relate to each other’s strengths and to build mutual commitment. Giving and receiving recognition is an important component of the volunteer development system in Girl Scouting.

Online Discussion Board Being Discontinued
In an effort to update our website and make it more viable for our membership and other visitors, we are going through the site to determine what is working and what isn't. As such, we have decided to discontinue the online discussion board area, as well as the online photo gallery. These changes will take effect Oct. 1.

We encourage you to continue with the Yahoo! groups that you currently subscribe to, and be sure to continue to send photos for consideration for all council-produced materials. Please e-mail photos to the public relations manager and graphic designer for consideration.

It’s Your Planet – Love It!

Join us Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 27 – 28 at Camp Wildwood for a variety of workshops centered on the environment, outdoor skills and Leave No Trace. Workshops will run during the day on Saturday; overnight accommodations are available for those who want to make it a getaway! Register today!

Make It Green

Mark your calendar for Saturday, Oct. 24 and discover how to deliver the Girls Go Techbridge “Make It Green” Program-in-a-Box. Learn how to facilitate girls to build a green dollhouse, about green design, and help girls to develop science and engineering skills. Participants will enjoy hands-on projects, green career exploration activities and learn how to help girls explore things they can do at home to lessen their environmental impact. Register today!
