GOVERNANCE
Area
Associations Will Meet During the Week of Oct. 26, and You’re
Invited!
Council delegates and alternate delegates are invited to attend the fall area association meetings to learn what’s going on in governance this year. We’re expecting another year of progress and change, and you’ll want to be a part of the council’s policy-influencing as we move forward. Besides, as a council delegate or alternate, attending area association meetings is a prime function of your position.
But did you know that area association meetings aren’t only for delegates and alternate delegates? Any registered Girl Scout age 14 or older is very welcome to attend area association meetings, and we encourage your participation. This is everyone’s chance to interact with board members and exercise your voice on matters of policy.
Here’s the schedule and locations for this fall’s meeting cycle. If you can’t attend your own area’s meeting, attend the one that best suits your schedule and travel routine.

If you belong to one of those service units, you may be the person we’re looking for. Area J is looking for someone who is interested in council governance and perhaps has been a council delegate or alternate…attends the association meetings…goes to the Annual Meeting…believes that exercising your voice in council governance is an important role.
If that sounds like you or someone you know, please contact Kathy Sandy: (813) 262-1771. We could use your help assisting the Area Association chair for Area J.
Service Unit Managers, Now is the Time…
….to complete your delegate and alternate elections for the 2009-2010 year. You received your election packet in August, and your best bet is to get those elections done now. Send your completed election rosters to Kathy Sandy at the Tampa Service Center by mail, fax (813-282-8374) or e-mail. We could use your rosters early so we can send meeting info to your newly-elected delegates and alternates. And remember, the rosters close for good on Dec. 31 when the clock chimes and the carriage turns into a pumpkin.
Are You a New Delegate or Alternate Delegate?
Have you completed delegate training? If not, check out the Adult Learning schedule in the Fall Guide. You’ll see that delegate training is coming up soon, and we conduct it now by webinar. Register now to reserve your spot on the airwaves.
