Between Earth and Sky (Grades K-1)

WOW! (Grades 2-3)

Breathe! (Grades 6-8)

Sow What? (Grades 9-10)

Justice (Grades 11-12)

The Journeys series was introduced last year and is designed to encourage girls in kindergarten through twelfth grades to play an active part in planning and decision-making as part of the new Girl Scout Leadership Experience. A new theme is selected for each membership year.

The “It’s Your Planet - Love It” collection takes on issues such as preserving the world’s water supply, creating innovations in energy usage, how our food network and choices impact the environment, and even what it will take to bring about environmental justice in our world.

In addition, the collection promotes healthy living, collaborative learning and an interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) careers. Activities outlined in the books include outdoor adventures, hands-on science investigations, and opportunities to “meet” prominent women and girls who are at work around the world on behalf of the environment.

“We talked to girls and asked them what issues are most important to them and received an overwhelming response that protecting the environment is a top priority for young people,” said Kathy Cloninger, CEO, Girl Scouts of the USA.

“With this new Journey, we saw an excellent opportunity to introduce girls to a broad range of environmental concerns, while empowering them to make an impact in their own communities.”
