What do girls do at camp?
Great question! That depends on which camp they attend. Below is a summary of our 3 summer camp locations for 2017. They each have their own distinct programs and opportunities for girls to have amazing experiences.
Summer on the Bay at Camp Wai Lani in Palm Harbor.
Spend your days enjoying a little bit of Florida paradise at Camp Wai Lani. The lush, tropical grounds of this 48-acre camp are nestled among the mangroves on Saint Joseph Sound. With easy access to the bay, girls can choose from canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding while exploring our unique marine environment in the water or at our marine lab. Plus pool swimming, snorkeling, archery, sewing, arts & crafts and more.
Options: Overnight full week camp, overnight half-week camp, day camp
Summer in the Saddle at Camp Wildwood
Everyone rides at Camp Wildwood! Say what?! Whether you come for our traditional camp experience or pick one of our specialty horse camp sessions, we plan to have you saddle up at some point. And it’s not all horseplay, there’s so much more to explore at Wildwood. Our largest camp is the perfect setting for girls to get outdoors in a nurturing atmosphere so they can grow and learn new things about themselves and others. Girls can enjoy archery, visits to our renowned Nature Center, hiking, making frontier crafts and daily swimming. Every Friday, the girls get to end their week with a celebration at out special all-camp barn dance and barbecue.
Options: Traditional full-week overnight camp, traditional half-week overnight camp, special week-long horse camps
Summer of STEM at the Leadership Center
Create! Innovate! Invent! From the natural world to virtual reality, STEM day camps at the Girl Scout Leadership Center let you dig deep, dream big and reach the stars. We'll bring you into the world of creators, spies, detectives, coders, robotics, astronomers, photographers and so much more. Plus, cool field trips every Friday, special guests and more.
Option: Day camp only
It pays to register early… but really.
Camp sessions fill up fast. Plus, there’s an early bird discount. If you register before March 15 you will save $25 on any full week overnight camp!
Fun Fact – Did you know EVERY GIRL can go to Girl Scout Camp?
Yep, that’s right! ALL girls entering grades 1-12 can experience the outdoors in a safe supervised environment. Do you have a friend who isn’t a Girl Scout? No problem! For any girl who is not currently an active member, she just needs to add a $15 registration fee to the camp price. We can help her complete to the process by contacting our CustomerConnections@gswcf.org, or call 1-800-881-GIRL. Invite your bff to go to camp with you and make sure you request her as your bunk buddy. That means you get to stay in the same cabin together.
Cookie Dough & Nut Bucks
Don’t forget you can apply your Cookie Dough, Nut Bucks and Council Credits you earned selling Girl Scout Cookies and Fall Products to your camp balance. Since it’s cookie season this is the perfect time to sell more cookies to get you to camp.
Calling all future camp counselors!
For teens who are ready to unlock their leadership potential and be a mentor to younger girls, you can start working toward your Counselor-In-Training (CIT) or Wrangler-In-Training (WIT, working with horses at Camp Wildwood) mentoring awards. Learn more about these leadership opportunities and the camp mentor progression see page 16 of the Camp Guide.
Financial Assistance is available
We believe all girls should have the opportunity to experience our Girl Scout Summer Camps. We offer “camperships” (financial assistance) on a first-come, first-served basis for registered members whose financial circumstances might otherwise prevent them from attending camp. Funding is limited so it is best to apply early if you are in need of assistance. For more information, please see page 21 of the Camp Guide.
