Let’s celebrate Girl Scout Week like a G.I.R.L.

GSWeek2017

Girl Scout Week is almost here! March 12 marks the day that Juliette Gordon Low started the first Girl Scout troop in 1912, and we’re ready to celebrate with a week’s worth of activities that show the world how our Movement is full of G.I.R.L.s (Go-getters, Innovators, Risk-takers, and Leaders)™.

We invite both girls and adults to share with us how they take the lead like a Girl Scout as we celebrate and recognize all our awesome, empowered, and experienced girl leaders. From March 12-18, we’ll be sharing ways that you and your girls can get in on all the Girl Scout Week fun!

Participate in the activities below as an individual or as a troop and don’t forget to share your photos, comments, and achievements with us on our council Facebook, Twitter or Instagram!

And it all starts with a VERY special birthday!

Sunday, March 12Girl Scout Sunday - Happy Birthday Girl Scouts! Celebrate National Girl Scout Day by reconnecting with the Girl Scout Promise and Law. Learn more about Girl Scout history and our founder, Juliette Gordon Low; you could even hold a Girl Scout birthday party. (We’re 105 this year!) Do something to make the world a better place. (Psst - don’t forget to check out the Girl Scout Store for celebratory birthday patches and party supplies!)

Monday, March 13 – Be a go-getter and spread the word about Girl Scouts! Make sure everyone knows how Girl Scouts is great for building girls of courage, confidence and character. Tell a friend about your GS troop. Or, invite a friend to join you at a meeting as a guest.

Tuesday, March 14 – Be an innovator on Girl Scout Spirit Day! It’s time to show off your Girl Scout pride. Rock your favorite Girl Scout gear and look for creative ways you can show off your Girl Scout involvement.

Wednesday, March 15 – It’s a day for Health & Happiness and what better way than stepping out of your comfort zone and being a risk-taker! Try a new activity, play a new sport, challenge yourself to succeed or learn if you don’t – either way you’ll have fun knowing you did your best and that boost of confidence is great for your body and soul.

Thursday, March 16 – Be a leader and show people you care on International Friendship Day! Begin writing letter to a faraway pen pal! Or do something local by committing “random acts of kindness” all day long. Be a good friend. Volunteer or donate to charity. Show the world your smile!

Friday, March 17It’s Friday – get Active and Outdoors! Girl Scout Week is wrapping up, so let’s get outdoors today and explore the natural world with family and friends! Leave the cell phones at home and visit a park or go for a hike.

Saturday, March 18 – Observe Girl Scout Sabbath and do your part to Make the World Better. It’s the perfect time to honor one’s faith. Attend a religious service. Look for ways to do something for your community – pick up trash, plant some flowers, volunteer to help at a shelter, offer help to a neighbor.

We can’t wait to kick off the celebrations with you this weekend! Got a great idea you want to share? Let us know how you plan to enjoy Girl Scout week.

And don’t forget to show us how you’re celebrating all week long, by sharing your activities on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram, using the hashtags #GSWCF #GirlScoutWeek or tagging us!
