Girl Scouts of West Central Florida's annual Thin Mint Sprint 5K and Tagalong 1 mile returns to Safety Harbor on September 24. New this year is the Samoa Challenge where runners are encouraged to run both the 5K and one mile races. Whether you take on the 5K, one miler or both distances, below are five reasons to run the Thin Mint Sprint.
Bling and Swag
Every registered participant receives a t-shirt, goodie bag and most importantly, a stunning and unique medal. Be one of the top three runners in each age category and earn a box of your favorite Girl Scout cookies. In addition, all Girl Scouts (K-12) that participate in the race will also earn a FREE Thin Mint Sprint Girl Scouts patch.
Location, Location, Location
Set in the quaint, small town USA of Safety Harbor, runners spectators and volunteers can expect to enjoy a gorgeous sunrise to kiss the bay just before the start of the race. This centrally located race in Tampa Bay offers a flat, shady course that follows the streets adjacent to the bay through the heart of Safety Harbor.
Run for Cookies
After the race, every runner, spectator and volunteer can sample all their favorite varieties of Girl Scout cookies. Of course, if you’re not in the cookie mood, there are plenty of post-race options and breakfast items, such as bagels and bananas.
Family-Friendly and Walker Friendly
Where else can you run for cookies with cookies beside the Thin Mint Sprint? Whether you are a veteran runner or a beginner runner, the Thin Mint Sprint welcomes runners of all abilities. Even strollers are encouraged in the Tagalong Trot one mile race making this chipped race a fun run for the whole family! Besides,
Since there are a limited number of registrations, the Thin Mint Sprint offers a small, intimate race experience. And better yet, the Thin Mint Sprint also offers a virtual option for anyone, anywhere to join in the fun and support the Girl Scouts of West Central Florida.
The spirit of the Thin Mint Sprint shares the Girl Scouts mission for courage, confidence and character. Through a race that focuses on healthy living, it provides an opportunity to build the courage, confidence and character necessary to accomplish a goal – finishing a 5K!
However, the Thin Mint Sprint takes the Girl Scout’s mission one step further by making the world a better place. Through a community-centered activity, the Thin Mint Sprint celebrates healthy living and community involvement which benefits over 19,000 local Girl Scouts in the greater Tampa Bay area.
