New Girl Scout Membership Year Starts on October 1

TX_MarComm14_204151

The new Girl Scout membership year starts next week on October 1. Whether you’re joining for the very first time or renewing your current membership, we have tons of fun things planned throughout the entire year for girls and volunteers just like you!

Renew Current Membership

On Time Registration ends on September 30! Why is this so important? It’s the last day for Troop Leaders to renew current troop members to ensure their girls get placed back in the same troop. Any girl not renewed by the start of the 2015-16 membership year on October 1 will be automatically removed from the troop roster and will be in jeopardy for losing her spot. After that, only the girls’ parents will have access in the system for renewal and will need to get the girl placed back in her troop.

Are you ready to renew? It’s super easy! Sign in to our Girl Scout Member Community to renew your membership.

Become a Girl Scout
Now is the perfect time to join Girl Scouts. Our new year is just starting. Brand new troops are forming. There is a place for you! Girls will make new friends who will last a lifetime. Our volunteers inspire girls to reach their fullest potential.   Learn more about the Girl Scout program and join online.

Still unsure if you should join or volunteer? Come see what Girl Scouts is all about. One of the best ways to get immersed in our organization is to meet the girls, troop leaders and other parents in action. Attend an upcoming recruitment rally in your community.

Programs and Events
Check out the Programs and Events Guide to start planning all the fun you’ll have this year. This guide has something for everyone. Explore the world of STEM. Go on adventures in the great outdoors. Try something new like SCUBA diving or rock climbing. Express yourself with art. Learn how to help the environment. Become more independent at an overnight camp. There are even programs the whole family will enjoy, yes, even your younger brother! The two kick-off events list below are just the beginning.

Band Against Bullying
October 10, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. (kick-off), 5-9 p.m. (concert)
Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors
We were lucky to have our very own Girl Scout offer to team up with us for this event as part of her Girl Scout Gold Award project! She's putting on a concert called Band Against Bullying, featuring local acts, as well as information to advocate against bullying with lots of tips on how to help those that are bullied. Before the concert, there will be lots of great activities for the girls and stations to learn about and celebrate all the things older Girl Scouts can do. Learn more & Register

GS Fest 2015 Explore Your World
Oct. 24, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Glazer Children’s Museum, Tampa
Daisies, Brownies and Juniors
Kick off your Girl Scout year at GSFest2015! This event is open to everyone, and it's a great time to bring family, friends, and neighbors so they can see all the wonderful, fun, cool, science-y, thrilling, have-so-much-fun-you-can't-wait-to-do-it-again things girls can do in Girl Scouting! During the event you will get to explore the museum, participate in fun, hands-on activities and meet our program partners that will share what they have planned for Girl Scouts this year! Earn Funds to Support Your Girl Scout Year!
One of the coolest parts of being a Girl Scout is you learn how to run your very own business. Yep, that’s right! Girls, just like you, develop 5 essential skills – goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics.  Plus, you’ll earn funds to help support your troop as well as  awesome rewards, patches and council credits for yourself.

Cookie season is the most highly anticipated time of the year. Everyone wants to stock pile their supply for Thin Mints, Samoas and Tagalongs. Now you can be a direct source for all your family, friends, classmates, teachers, and anyone else you know. You name it and they’re going to want to buy Girl Scout Cookies! Cookie pre-sale starts Jan. 4 and Cookie Booth sales start Feb. 19.

You don’t have to wait until cookie season to get started. Orders for our Fall Product Program just began last week and will run until Oct. 19. This program offers a wide variety of tasty chocolate treats, yummy nut and fruit snacks, a massive selection of popular magazine subscriptions, and more. Learn more about how you can participate.

So, what are you waiting for? Join or renew your membership today!
