You’ll receive lots of helpful hints for their first outdoor experiences and avoid some common pitfalls. This course should be completed 3-6 month before your camp outing.

Registration closes Sept. 29 - In this workshop, Leaders will learn the benefits of take action projects, the difference between "service" and "take action," and understand the roles of volunteers, girls, and the council during these projects.

Lifeguard Certification

Registration closes Oct. 5 - 4 session Lifeguard training through videos, group discussion and hands-on practice. You’ll learn teamwork, rescue and surveillance skills. First Aid and CPR/AED are included in this class.

CPR/First Aid Certification

Location: West United Methodist Church, Ocala

Registration closes Oct. 5 - This CPR and First Aid certification course is offered by the American Heart Association as a convenience to our Girl Scout volunteers.

Kiln Certification

Date: Sat Oct 11 2014, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Location: Camp Dorothy Thomas

Registration closes Oct. 5 - Learn the stages of ceramics from green ware to glazed pieces. Participants will pour molds, fire kilns, and explore the Safety Activity Checkpoints. This certification course is required for anyone using the kiln facilities at Girl Scouts of West Central Florida camps. Participants can pick up pieces the next day from camp, or they will be available at the Leadership Center two weeks after the course date.

Babysitting Safety

Registration closes Oct. 12 - Do you want to earn extra money? Be the babysitter everyone is asking for! Learn the basic responsibilities of infant and child care from a certified instructor. Happy Trails

Registration closes Oct. 12 - Happy Trails is a one-day horse program for girls who have completed Horse Kicks I and would like to take a long ride around Camp Wildwood. You’ll work together as a team with your sister Girl Scouts as you groom and saddle your horse and then hit the trail. As a barn activity, you’ll be creating beautiful, colorful trail markers to take home as a reminder of your day with the horses.

Paddle the Water Overnight, Info Meeting

Registration closes Oct. 12 - Join us for an informational and planning session to learn more about an overnight paddling adventure on the Withalacooche River. If you decide to go on the trip, you’ll spend a few sessions practicing and building your canoeing skills at Camp Scoutcrest and then go on your overnight adventure in April 2015.
