Gift of Caring

“Gift of Caring” is a Girl Scout Community Service Project. Each troop can choose individually to participate.
How the program works:
Before the cookie sale, each troop decides which charitable organization(s) it would like to visit to deliver packages of Girl Scout cookies donated by its customers. (Senior Citizens Centers, Women & Children’s Shelters, etc.)
A “Gift of Caring” card is attached to the front of the cookie order card showing customers the name of the organization(s) the troop will visit.
While taking orders, each girl will ask her customers if they would like to purchase an additional package of cookies as a gift for that troop’s chosen charity. She will explain that this is a Girl Scout Community Service Program and show the “Gift of Caring” card.
- A blank column has been added to the order card for the “Gift of Caring” packages so customers can write in the number of packages they wish to purchase for donation.
- Troops will add the number of “Gift of Caring” packages and convert it into their choice of varieties. (Troops almost always have cookies left over from converting the girls’ orders to cases.)
- When the troops receive their cookies, all “Gift of Caring” packages should be separated from customer orders.
- Each girl will collect the money for customer orders and “Gift of Caring” cookies when delivering to customers.
- Troops will deliver the “Gift of Caring” cookies to their chosen charitable organization, meeting and communicating with the people they chose to help.
- “Gift of Caring” Patches can be purchased in The Girl Scout Store. To avoid delays order your troop’s patches early.
