Resident Camp
Through positive youth development we encourage girls to value their uniqueness and to understand and appreciate their part in the larger community. Camp helps girls develop self-esteem, responsibility, resourcefulness and cooperation so they can lead with courage, confidence and character. Quality camp experiences help girls develop the healthy emotional and social skills necessary to grow into strong, considerate, competent adults. Girl Scout camps offer developmental activities that lead to positive youth development outcomes, including:
- Caring adult relationships
- Planning and decision making
- Cultural competence and sensitivity
- Teamwork and a sense of “fair play”
- Leadership and friendship building
- Peaceful conflict resolution
- Constructive use of time
- Friendship building
Girl Scouts of West Central Florida camps have attained the accreditation of the American Camp Association by meeting the high standards set by the organization.
Great camps await! Camp Dorothy Thomas, Camp Scoutcrest and Camp Wildwood provide overnight resident camps for girls of all ages. Pick a week or two, or stay the whole season. Mix and match day and resident camp weeks to ensure the best summer ever!
Don’t miss the fun—register today for the sessions of your choice!
Sessions are offered for girls ages 6-18. Bring a friend or make new friends when you arrive at camp! Girls who are notalready registered Girl Scouts pay an additional $10 which will provide membership and supplemental insurance.

Safety is our most important concern. Rest assured, we will provide a safe atmosphere where new challenges are met, activities are age level-appropriate (not too hard, not too easy!) and each girl will have opportunities to develop her leadership skills. Register for camp by completing the registration/health form(s) that accompanies this brochure, or register online at www.gswcf.org.
Registration Information
Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis and can be submitted by mail, fax, online www.gswcf.org, or walk-in. Registration begins Saturday, March 1. We cannot “save spaces” or take registration by phone. The Camp Registration Form and payment of $50 deposit must be together to be processed. You may pay by check, credit card, or money order. Incomplete registrations will be returned. You will receive a confirmation letter within two weeks of submitting registration.
Important to note: If a camper is attending more than one session and at a different camp location, the parent is responsible for duplication and submission of all required forms for attending the additional session.
Final payment is due by Friday, May 16, 2008, or upon receipt of campership notice for those who apply for assistance. An account with an unpaid balance after May 16 is subject to “dropped” status. Girls on waiting lists will be moved into the program at that time if space is available.
Refunds
Refunds will be made in the following cases:
- Program is full or cancelled.
- Child must attend summer school. A notice from school must be submitted.
- Illness. A physician’s note is required.
