Surf & Service The Earth Costa Rica Information Meeting (Tampa Service Center)

Sunday, November 08, 2009, 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Be an active collaborator in international sea turtle conservation efforts, and surf in Costa Rica at the same time. This eight-day course is an amazing opportunity to join Ecology Project International and assist with a sea turtle monitoring project. During nightly patrols at the Pacuare Nature Reserve, you’ll work directly with nesting leatherback sea turtles in an effort to help protect them from extinction.

Additionally, you’ll have the chance to explore Costa Rica’s tropical lowland forests – home to howler monkeys, three-toed sloths, toucans, reptiles and other wonders of the natural world. After completing your field work, you have the chance to meet Costa Rican friends by visiting a school attended by local participants. After leaving Pacuare, you’ll travel to the west coast to spend two-and-a-half days surfing at
Playa Jaco, a friendly beach located two hours from the capital city of San Jose. On the last night of the course, you’ll return to San Jose for a celebration dinner and graduation ceremony. Please contact mcacioppo@gswcf.org with any questions.

Cost of trip: $2,999/girl. Final payment is due Jan. 25.
